Senior Sensory Scientist – Food Ingredients

Location: Singapore

Our client, an established multinational in the food ingredients industry, is hiring a Senior Sensory Scientist to lead and manage sensory activities that support product innovation, development, and quality. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to a global team while playing a critical part in delivering outstanding taste and consumer experiences.

As a Senior Sensory Scientist, you will manage sensory projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams, provide expert guidance on sensory methodologies, and support product development from concept through commercialization. You will also take ownership of building sensory expertise within the organization, ensuring the effective application of sensory science to drive innovation and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project meetings with cross-functional teams to define objectives, design sensory/consumer research methodologies, and coordinate test plans.
  • Independently analyze and interpret experimental data, generate insights, and provide clear technical recommendations.
  • Allocate, coordinate, and review resources for sensory studies while ensuring timely delivery of results.
  • Build and advance sensory expertise, tools, and techniques while continuously improving evaluation methodologies.
  • Train and maintain a pool of internal panelists to ensure accurate and consistent sensory results.
  • Provide sensory training to Quality Assurance and other internal teams as required.
  • Collaborate with marketing and commercial teams to support both proactive and reactive sensory projects.
  • Manage sensory requests from multiple departments, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment and oversee inventory of supplies.
  • Deliver sensory results and reports on time, in both oral and written form.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of professional experience in sensory evaluation within the food or beverage industry (e.g.. sauces, seasonings, snacks)
  • Strong knowledge of sensory evaluation methodologies; experience in consumer studies is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software (e.g., XLStat, SPSS, JMP, EyeQuestion, Compusense).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and international teams.
