Location: Singapore

Our client, a leading multinational in the pharmaceutical sector, is hiring an Automation Engineer / Senior Engineer to strengthen their engineering and operations excellence team. This role offers the chance to contribute to high-impact automation initiatives that directly support product quality, compliance, and operational efficiency in a global manufacturing environment.

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting global automation teams, configuring systems, and driving flawless execution in production operations. You will provide technical supervision throughout manufacturing campaigns, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, and contribute to developing world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support global automation teams in setting up AMPS systems and building master data.
  • Configure recipes based on site-specific processes and operational priorities.
  • Provide training to engineers and end-users on system configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Lead product manufacturing campaigns, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and EHS standards.
  • Ensure seamless data flow between integrated systems (e.g., SAP, DeltaV).
  • Prepare and review system lifecycle documentation and develop supporting SOPs, change controls, and verification documents.
  • Provide day-to-day troubleshooting support and mentoring for recipe configuration and execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver flawless execution in manufacturing.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize process control system recipes and models.
  • Investigate, report, and resolve issues related to quality, safety, or batch performance.
  • Drive preventive measures, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train process technicians on procedures and ensure compliance with GMP and data integrity standards (ALCOA).
  • Own one or more equipment GMP systems, ensuring readiness for audits and inspections.
  • Play an active role in delivering CI (Continuous Improvement) goals and ensuring operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of process automation systems and ISA S88 Batch Standard, preferably with Emerson DeltaV.
  • Solid understanding of material flow processes and solvent management.
  • Experience with GMP procedures, change controls, SOPs, and documentation requirements.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a relevant pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design and implement effective engineering and quality solutions.
  • Demonstrated application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and execution skills, with a track record of delivering against timelines.
  • Proactive mindset with creativity to identify and implement process improvements.
